Gerlando Infuso: Milovan Circus

Yet another brilliant proof why animated shorts are Art and why that's not even important, because they are, to use a mild word, 'cause my English is pauvre, breathtaking. This is so good I can't even begin to explain. Aha, Belgian international festival of animated films is starting next week. Opening: "Mary and Max", one of my favourite films from last years. 9 days of pure delight. Here, Milovan Circus:

In Yer Face!

Due to a broken tag, I can't embed the clip here, but please follow this link to see what it means to rub it all over the faces of all the johns, ljudmilas and aleses of this World. Sweet thanks, John Oliver!

Forget? Never.

With full mouth of pride and payed bills, it is easy to forget - how we are who we are also because people that came before us gave their lives, thousands of them - simply because they were who they were: gay.
I have enough of asking, of begging for rights that are ours simple and only because we ARE. We are, and we are human. These rights are not to be given to us, they are ours. No debate about it. They are human rights, the rights of human beings. Yes, if you want, I do mean having children by that, also. And living our lives the way we want to. To human rights, who you fuck should be completely irrelevant, if the person you fuck agrees with it. As should be what colour your skin is or if all your limbs work. Minorities define the majority and all its power. The problem is, majority tends to forget that.

But then, some of us won't forget. Never.

This is just the trailer, but I strongly urge you to see the whole documentary:

Everlasting Nothingness

c | o Berlin shows McCullin retrospective!

When in Berlin, I came across an outstanding photo exhibition of Don McCullin. If you're in the neighborhood, I strongly suggest checking it out. In fact, it is good enough to also make you visit the city just on its behalf. It's open until February 28th. Here's the data:

Don McCullin: THE IMPOSSIBLE PEACE / retrospective of work 1958 - 2008
C | O Berlin, Oranienburger Strasse 35/36, 10117 Berlin Mitte (near the synagogue)
[link]

You can take M1 tram or speed trains S1 or S2 and get off at the station Oranienburger Strasse (caution - Strasse, not Tor, because there are 2 stations with almost the same name, but Oranienburger Strasse is directly in front of the Gallery entrance).

P. S.: At this point, there is also another exhibition at C| O, about the slums, that is extremely interesting, also, and very moving. It's titled The Places We Live and photos are done by Jonas Bendiksen. Connected with Amnesty International, the exhibition is also trying to raise awareness and educate about the conditions in which people live - also, it shows ways on which one can get active to help.

When Getting Married ...

.. don't forget to tell the one-man-band to play this goldy for you and your spouse. Dancing to this, hello - you need to get all sweaty from love, there's nothing to it.

Imagine ... Your whole family, your person to spend the rest of your life with and share children, bed and home pets with, a Marko one-man-band on synth and a small hall that your parents rented, full of joy they're finally getting rid of you and your childish needs.

And then, the lights go dark yellow, the food's getting cold, the smell of beer and cheap cologne is in the air, your old uncle is half-asleep over there, half over the table, it's past midnight, you are sitting on your chair, just asking your soul if you bought the right pair of underwear and if dark red silk ones would maybe be better ... and then, just as you look up and meet the sight of your love, there it comes ... if this ain't perfect, I dunno what is:
